My fourteenth painting was my last one before embarking on the tour of ‘The Two Worlds of Charlie F’. The tour began with a two-week run in the Princess of Wales theatre in Toronto, Canada.
Operation Athena is the Canadian Forces contribution to the International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) in Afghanistan. A total of 158 Canadian Forces personnel had been killed in the war since 2002. I worked alongside a couple of Canadian units in Afghanistan in 2007 and 2009.
